When you work with a composite of things that once existed independently, and you have the vision of what they CAN be, you only have to be willing to take a little risk and “viola” , you will create something beautiful … and that will give you another idea … and you’ll change a few pieces … This is what goes on at Medford Company Store … we are a work in progress … with the vision of multiple talents.
This gorgeous flowered gazing ball was once a silvered sphere, and the petals of each flower were broken cups and saucer and dishes and glasses . Mosaic artist Wendy Lempe Sheid saw something more than broken dishes.
Wendy is a teacher of the art of “pique assiette”. Her classes range from “take it with you” one day sessions to classes that are more comprehensive, including the history of the technique and the opportunity to work on the most detailed projects. “Ladies Night” has been a popular event held by Wendy.
Wendy’s student ages are a broad range – from very young to very mature. Here are a few photos of works of art completed by accomplished beginners. Surprise ! Kassidy Farnum is a 6 year old from Medford, NJ. She designed this table herself ; it was her very first piece and a wonderful surprise for her mother.
At a “Mom and Me” class, Gabrielle Gilham created 2 these two gorgeous picture frames.
Wendy’s classes are usually offered on Tuesdays and Fridays, and with notice she will accomodate those whose schedules are challenging.
